Acai is my current favourite superfood. It is lovely in smoothies, shakes and different smoothie or chia seed bowls. It is rich in many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and B vitamins, magnesium, iron, potassium, as well as fibre and some omega oils. It’s said to be anti-ageing, aid weight loss, improve mental function and give you energy among many other benefits.

I use acai powder and try to have some every day, usually in a smoothie. Here’s what I had today.  This smoothie is packed with vitamins and antioxidants from acai and the berries, as well as protein, good fats, fibre and many other nutrients from the hemp, almond milk and flaxseeds so it’s a real superfood smoothie that is great for energy and weight loss.

A  large handful of berries (I used fresh blueberries, raspberries and strawberries – frozen would be fine too)
1/2tbsp acai powder
1tbsp hemp seeds
1tbsp ground flaxseeds
200ml almond milk (homemade, preferably)
1 large frozen banana
Few drops of liquid stevia (maple syrup would be fine too)

Put everything in a blender and blend until smooth.
